Cumberland Surety Inc., as a representative for its issuing carrier partners, manages a book of Contract and Miscellaneous bonds written through local independent agents. A lot of our work centers around smaller to medium sized accounts with quite a number of new and emerging contractors.

The bulk of the bonds written fall below $500,000. However, Cumberland offers contract bond programs of up to $2.5 Million Single Job, with an aggregate limit of $5 Million Work on Hand.

In the current surety market, many surety underwriters have greatly restricted the scope of the book of business they will entertain. This has left many smaller clients and infrequent users of bonds without an accessible market. Cumberland Surety attempts to fill that gap, taking the extra time to try to work with accounts which other markets may not be interested in pursuing.

The foundation on which Cumberland Surety has built its book of business is based on specialization and superior service to its distribution system. Routine attainment of 48 hour carrier underwriting turnaround of complete new submissions, has enabled Cumberland to develop a leadership position among its producers. Established accounts receive almost immediate turnaround on requests within their programs.

Cumberland Surety also offers a comprehensive program for Miscellaneous, License/Permit and Court/Probate bonds; again with an emphasis on service for the agent's clients.
